How It Works

Gel wax isn't a true wax in the traditional sense — it's a blend of high-purity mineral oil and specialised polymer resins that set into a soft, transparent, rubbery gel rather than a hard, opaque block. This structure is what gives it superior clarity compared to soy, paraffin, or beeswax, and allows light and embedded objects to show through the finished candle. The soft-set formula also has excellent adhesion to glass, which is why it's the preferred choice for jar and container candles.

Usage Instructions

1. Prepare your container – ensure it's clean and dry. Place any decorations or embeds at the bottom before pouring.
2. Melt – cut the wax into small lumps and melt gently using an induction cooker with a metal pot, or a standard double boiler on low heat.
3. Temperature control – maintain the wax below 100°C for maximum clarity; do not exceed 120°C.
4. Colour – once fully liquid, add oil-soluble pigments or dyes and mix thoroughly.
5. Pour – allow the wax to cool to approximately 90°C before pouring at a steady, uniform speed to minimise bubbles.
6. Wick – insert a wax-coated cotton wick after pouring.

• Fragrance oil: 4–8% of total wax weight
• Oil-soluble dye/pigment: add gradually to desired colour intensity — a little goes a long way with gel wax due to its high transparency

Is gel wax the same as regular candle wax?

No — gel wax is a blend of mineral oil and polymer resin rather than a traditional wax, which gives it its distinctive transparent, jelly-like texture and higher clarity.
