Lip & Cuticle Balm
A rich, deeply nourishing lanolin balm for lips, cuticles & dry patches
Lanolin — the skin-identical emollient secreted by wool-bearing sheep — is one of the most powerful moisturising ingredients in cosmetic science. It forms an occlusive film, mimics your skin's own lipid structure, and draws water from the air into your skin. This formula pairs it beautifully with beeswax and botanical oils for a balm that feels like pure luxury.

◈ Method
1
Sanitise everything
Wipe your glass measuring cup, stirring rod, and pot with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Let dry fully.
2
Melt wax & lanolin
Using a double boiler, combine beeswax and lanolin. Heat gently until fully melted (65–70°C).
3
Add your oils
Remove from heat. Stir in castor oil and fractionated coconut oil until uniform.
4
Add actives & fragrance
When the mixture cools to ~45°C, stir in Vitamin E and essential oil.
5
Pour into containers
Pour into a sanitised 30 g pot or lip balm tubes. Let set undisturbed for 20–30 minutes.
6
Label & cure
Label with date and ingredients. Let cure 24 hours before use. Store away from heat and light.
✦ Formulator’s Notes
- • Lanolin has a natural mild scent. Use deodorised lanolin if sensitive.
- • For a firmer stick balm, increase beeswax by 2–3 g.
- • For softer pot balm, reduce beeswax to 3 g.
- • Castor oil is the secret to long-wear and shine.
- • This is an anhydrous formula — no preservative needed.
