What is Grapefruit Essential Oil made from?

What does it smell like?
A fresh, light, sweet citrus aroma with a slightly bitter edge, like the zest of a ripe grapefruit. It's a top note, so it's the first scent you notice in a blend.

Is this oil ready to use, or does it need to be diluted?
It's supplied undiluted as a concentrated aromatic ingredient. It must be diluted in a suitable carrier oil or base before any skin contact, and always patch tested first.

Can I use it in soap and candle making?
Yes. IFRA allows up to 100% in rinse-off soap and body wash (Category 9) and in candles (Category 12), but check your total fragrance load and the category for your specific finished product. As a top note, it may fade faster in soap, so pair it with a base note or fixative.

Does grapefruit essential oil make products sun-sensitive?
As with cold-pressed citrus oils generally, we recommend avoiding sun/UV exposure on skin after using leave-on products containing this oil.
